Hi there! I'm looking for some good resources to find shoes that AREN'T 60+ dollars a pair, for me and my maids. Just seems unfair to ask them to spend that much on a pair of shoes they'll probably wear only once, because i know i dont want to. Any ideas?

Technically, if you are requiring your maids to have special shoes (as in dyed or going with the dresses in some way), you should pay. You can get around this by asking them to wear a neutral color, such as tan, black, or grey/silver, because a) they either own a pair already or b) if they do buy a new pair, they will wear them again. Plus, no one gives two craps about the BMs shoes. No one will notice. Are the dresses long or short? If they are long, definitely don't worry about the shoes, because no one will really even see them.

Payless has lots of cute shoes. Also try Charlotte Russe. They both have buy 1, get 1 1/2 off sales a lot. I got mine from a store called Bakers at the mall for about $40 (see the pic in my siggy).

Also, you can sell your shoes to brides here on TK classifieds if you want a cute pair of shoes but know you'll never get any use out of them again. A lot of brides do this, so check there for a pair you may like to purchase as well!

I asked my BM to wear silver shoes since I know at least one girl already had silver shoes from a wedding.  Looking back I should have just said metallic since another girl had gold and it really didn't matter.

I bought my blue flats from DSW, they were $50, I googled DSW coupons and got 20%.  I love the shoes and can re-wear.  I would prefer to spend more on re-wearable shoes then be comfortable for the day, but that is me.

If you insist on your BM wearing the same shoe, very 1985, you should pay for the shoes.

Don't rule out Penney's or Macy's either.  They have a good sale and if you're buying shoes for yourself that you can re-use (i.e. metallic or a favorite color instead of white/ivory) maybe you won't feel as bad spending money to get something you love.

As far as your maids, ditto the suggestion of asking them to wear a neutral color like black, silver, etc. and they can use something they already have or get something they would use again.

Shoebuy.com and when you enter "bday" you get 25% OFF.  I found a lot of cute pairs that are dyeable from Touchups brands.  I got my bridals shoes for about $40.

Payless! One of my friends just bought herself a nice pair of shoes for her wedding and between the Bogo sale and a coupon they came to $15.00 a pair.

I'm going to second Payless!

I just found my shoes there for $15. They were exactly what I was looking for too. I had found a pair almost identical to them at DSW for $50 and am so glad I didn't buy them when I saw them.

Payless is the best option, as others have mentioned. If you don't mind selecting a pre-made color, Dessy.com has some great shoes from sandals to heels.

I ordered flats to wear for my wedding in palamino from Dessy.com. I'm really free with my bridesmaids; I just want them to wear a certain color dress and that's it!

Please don't make them buy special shoes.  It's an additional expense, and nobody looks at a bridesmaid's feet.  Ask them to wear a gold or silver shoe. Most women already have a pair in their closet.

Don't buy special wedding shoes to wear with your gown unless you just want them, or can wear them again with something else.  Biggest waste of money from my first wedding. along with the stupid guestbook that we never looked at again.
